Just realized my $12 bottle of Turtle Wax Ice beats the $200 ceramic kit I got in Reno

I grabbed a ceramic coating kit at a shop in Reno for around $200 and spent 6 hours prepping my truck last month. Last week I tried the $12 bottle of Turtle Wax Ice on my wife's car in 20 minutes and the water beads up way better after two rains. Maybe I did the ceramic wrong but the cheap stuff is winning so far. Anyone else had a cheap product beat out the fancy one?
