DAE think ceramic coating is worth it after what I saw at the Daytona dealership
Watched a guy pick up his new truck at a dealership in Daytona and within 20 minutes a bird bombed the hood, he wiped it with a dry rag, and now there's a permanent swirl mark. Half the guys I talk to say ceramic coating is overpriced snake oil, the other half say it saved their paint from stuff like that. I'm leaning toward getting it on my own ride but the $1,400 quote feels steep, anyone actually regret skipping it?
That detail about him wiping it with a dry rag is painful to read, like watching someone scratch a fresh paint job on purpose. Bird mess wipes off way easier if there's a slick coat on top, but a dry rag will scratch through just about anything if he pressed hard enough. For what it's worth I skipped the coating on my last car and I still kick myself every time I wash it and see the little marks.
