Tried using a cheap borescope to inspect a cylinder wall and actually got usable images

Picked up one of those $30 wifi borescopes off Amazon last week just to mess around. Hooked it up to my phone and shoved it into a customer's #3 cylinder on a 2012 F-150 that was burning oil. Honestly was shocked the picture was clear enough to see scoring on the wall without pulling the head. Has anyone else had luck with those budget cameras or am I just getting lucky so far?

Whoa, that's pretty wild. I bought one of those $20 ones and it's super hit or miss honestly. The picture quality depends a lot on lighting and how close you can get the tip to the surface. You probably got lucky with the angle, but it's always worth trying when you're that deep in a job.

That $30 scope probably won't hold up past a few uses.

Buddy's cheap scope fell apart mid-job, lens popped right out.
