Spent $600 on a snap-on scanner that a $40 bluetooth dongle couldve done

Bought the fancy scanner for a fleet deal in Phoenix last March, but it turned out the cheap one reads the same live data on my 2012 F-150, so has anyone else gotten burned by tool truck markups on stuff you barely need?

Learned that lesson years ago with a Matco fuel pressure kit. Paid $280 when a $35 gauge from the parts store does the exact same job. The truck brand stuff is nice but 90% of it is just markup for the name on the case. Save the money for the tools you actually use every day.
