Spent 4 hours chasing a misfire on a 2014 Ford Focus, turned out to be a bad ground strap I overlooked three times.

Has anyone else spent way too long on a simple issue like that, or am I the only one who skips checking grounds first?

I mean, sometimes grounds are fine and it's really something else.

Nah, check your grounds FIRST every time, saves you all that headache.

@kelly385 is right, that's the play. Did the same thing on an old Civic, swapped coils and plugs for two hours before finding the ground wire corroded clean through under the battery tray. Those ground straps hide in plain sight and make everything act crazy.
