Serious question, did you know the average car has over 30,000 parts?

I read that in an old trade magazine at the shop and it just blew my mind. How many of those do you think you've actually replaced?

My buddy bought this old truck as a project, a real basket case. He spent two years swapping out almost everything but the frame and the cab. When he finally got it running, we joked that he'd probably replaced 29,999 of those 30,000 parts himself. It really puts that number into perspective when you see someone basically building a whole vehicle from a pile of rusty bits.

Hold up, that's the whole point though. If the frame and cab are still the original truck, then it's still that truck. It's got the same soul, the same serial numbers. Your buddy didn't build a new vehicle, he saved an old one. That's way cooler than just buying something off a lot. Doesn't that make it more special?

Man I can barely keep track of all the parts I've broken on my own cars, let alone replaced the good ones! That buddy must have the patience of a saint and a whole lot more skill than me.
