PSA: Check your brake caliper slide pins before they seize up on you
Honestly, I had a 2015 Honda Accord come into my shop last Tuesday with a rear brake that was smoking. Customer said they just put new pads on two weeks ago. I pulled the wheel off and the inner pad was ground down to metal, outer pad looked brand new. The slide pin was completely frozen, no movement at all. That cheap grease they used from the parts store just dried up and turned into glue. I spent three hours trying to drill out the pin and had to replace the whole caliper bracket anyway. Cost the guy $220 instead of a $40 lube job. Has anyone else seen these cheap grease packs cause this kind of failure?

Yep. That cheap silicone grease from AutoZone literall turns to glue after a few heat cycles. I only use the 3M brake lube now. Its worth the extra few bucks.

Yeah, that glue thing is exactly what happened to me. I had a caliper pin seize up after like six months with the cheap stuff. Switched to the silicone paste from Napa, the one that comes in the little green packet, and it's been fine for two years now. No stickiness, no noise, just works.
