Old-school timing light vs. the scope now
Back in 2010 at my shop outside Tulsa, I used to set base timing with a timing light on every distributor car that came through. Took me 10 minutes a car, and I got pretty good at reading the marks in low light. Now I mostly grab the Pico scope and just look at the crank and cam pattern on screen, way faster and catches a slipped balancer that a light would never show. Anyone else switch over completely, or do you still keep a light in the box for the old stuff?
