My neighbor swore by a trick for stuck caliper bolts that actually worked

He told me to heat the bolt with a torch for about 30 seconds, then tap it with a hammer before trying to turn it. I was working on a 2010 F-150 last week and the rear caliper bracket bolt was completely seized. I tried penetrating oil and force with no luck, so I gave his method a shot. It broke free on the first try after the heat and tap. Has anyone else had good results with this, or is there a better way you use?

Man, I always thought that heat trick was just old-timer nonsense. But it worked on my buddy's Silverado last month, same exact problem. Totally changed my mind.

My uncle's old mechanic in Tucson always said to heat it, then hit it with an impact wrench right away.

Did he ever find the bolt after that?
