My beat-up timing light sorted out a no-start that had everyone scratching their heads

I still use a basic timing light for tune-ups (most guys think I'm nuts for it). A customer's truck wouldn't fire after the shop tried all the new diagnostic gear. I hooked up my light, made a few adjustments by feel, and it cranked right over. Felt pretty good to solve it with such a simple tool. (Guess sometimes the old methods just work, huh?)

So what did you end up adjusting by feel with the light?

Tweaked the highlights until the shadows didn't look too deep. @david37, it's mostly about trusting your eye over the numbers. My light meter is probably sulking in the corner.

Wait, doesn't a timing light show you the exact mark?
