Leaky rear main seal took me 3 days, turned out to be a $14 PCV valve
92 F-250 with the 5.8, oil dripping like a faucet. I pulled the trans, dropped the oil pan, replaced the rear main seal, put it all back together. Still leaking. 3 days of my life gone. Then my old timer neighbor watches it idle for 5 minutes and says check the PCV. One clogged valve, engine pressure blowing oil past the new seal. Swapped it in 10 minutes. Anyone else ever chase a big job when the root cause was something tiny and cheap?

Classic. That old timer saved you another 3 days of guessing too. Those PCV valves are like 5 bucks and people never think to check em.
