Had a brake caliper seize up on me last Tuesday in the middle of a job

I was swapping pads on a 2015 F-150 for a customer when the rear passenger caliper just locked solid. Couldn't get the piston to budge with the c-clamp or my brake tool. Ended up having to call around three parts houses to find a loaded caliper in stock, then the bleeder screw snapped off on the old one. Took me almost two extra hours to get the truck back on the road. Has anyone else run into these cheap castings lately or did I just get unlucky?

That 2015 F-150 rear caliper is notorious for seizing up. I've had three of those exact ones come through my shop this year alone. The bleeder screw snapping is the real kick in the teeth too, did you end up having to drill it out or just replace the whole line? I've been buying the AC Delco calipers from RockAuto for the last six months and haven't had a single issue with them sticking like the OE ones do.

Oh man, tell me about it! I ended up snapping the bleeder screw off and spent a whole afternoon trying to drill it out with a crappy bit from Harbor Freight. It was a comedy of errors, I honestly felt like I was fighting the truck more than fixing it. Ended up just replacing the whole caliper anyway, so that was a frustrating waste of time!
