That one painter changed my mind about waterborne primer
I always thought waterborne primer was junk for body work until I watched this old guy at a shop in Phoenix lay down a perfect epoxy coat on a damp 100 degree day. He told me to feel the humidity and trust the chemistry, not the rumors. Any of you guys actually prefer waterborne over solvent for certain jobs?

Take a step back and you see this same thing everywhere now, not just in paint. People hear one bad story about something and they write it off forever. It's like when folks swore off LED bulbs because the first ones flickered and hummed, or when everyone said electric cars were useless because the early ones had no range. The truth is most things get better once the bugs get worked out, but people hold onto that old memory like it's gospel. That painter in Phoenix knew the product had improved, he just had to prove it to himself by doing it right.

Oh man, you just reminded me of a guy I used to know who swore by spraying lacquer with a garden hose misting the air around his garage. He said it cut down on dust nibs better than any fume extractor ever could. I still think waterborne has its place in dry climates, but I'll take my solvent on a sticky day any time.
