Serious question, why are we letting aftermarket bumpers become the norm?
In my area, insurance adjusters are pushing these parts hard to save money, but the fit is always off. I spent an extra hour just trying to line one up last week, and the paint match was poor. It feels like we're setting up cars to look bad and lose value fast. We should push back when quality takes a hit.

While insurance adjusters push aftermarket parts, not all bumpers have poor fit if sourced correctly.

The fit isn't always off, despite what you experienced. As torres.mary said, proper sourcing can help.

Used to think aftermarket was fine until a bad bumper ruined a clean repair job. Reading what torres.mary said about sourcing made me look into it more, and she's right that some brands fit okay if you're careful. But the cheap ones insurance usually picks still cause most of the problems with gaps and paint. Makes you wonder if the savings are worth the hassle and worse looking car?
