Just finished my 500th blend panel on a 2018 F-150 quarter

It was a full repaint after a side swipe, and the blend into the door took three tries to get right. Anyone else have a go-to trick for metallic silver on aluminum panels?

That "three tries to get right" line is the real story. It's like when you're trying to match a thread color on an old shirt, the light has to hit it just so. Metallic silver seems to show every tiny change in your spray angle or distance.

My buddy at the paint shop says metallic silver is actually forgiving if you keep a steady hand. He argues the flake hides small mistakes better than solid colors. I see your point @brown.gavin, but maybe we're overthinking the technique.

That "forgiving if you keep a steady hand" part is the catch though. If your hand isn't steady, the flake lays down uneven and looks way worse than a solid color mess up. Seen it happen.
