I've been using a 3M sanding block for final feathering on filler for years, but a guy at a trade show in Charlotte last month told me to just use my hand with the paper wrapped around it for better feel.

Tried it on a quarter panel repair this morning and the control over the low spots was way better, so I guess I've been over-tooling a simple job this whole time, anyone else do it this way?

That Charlotte guy just saved you like a decade of overthinking it. Classic case of the simplest tool being your actual hand.

Classic case of the simplest tool being your actual hand? Man that makes me think of this time I tried to fix a leaky faucet with a fancy wrench set my uncle gave me. Spent two hours fighting with it before my neighbor came over and just used an old butter knife to tighten the nut. Sometimes the most obvious answer is right in front of you. People overcomplicate stuff like crazy when a little common sense would do the trick.
