I used to think a quick sand was fine for feathering filler
A painter I work with pointed out my panels always had a slight 'hard line' under the paint. He said, 'You're not taking it back far enough, you need to treat the edge like it's a ghost.' Now I block sand an extra 4 inches past the filler edge with 180 before I even think about primer. Anyone else get called out on a bad habit that stuck with you?

Treat the edge like it's a ghost" is a great line. I'd probably jump every time I saw my own reflection in the panel after that.

Oh that's actually a panel you can see through, not a mirror. But yeah, that line would still freak me out too.

Yeah, "jump at my own reflection" is the real mood. I'd be the person who scares MYSELF half to death and then has to play it cool. Ghosts are one thing, but my own dumb face in a dark window is the true horror.
