I finally saw a paint booth setup that made me rethink my own

I was at a shop in Austin last month to pick up a part, and they let me peek at their paint area. The thing that got me was their lighting. They had these long LED strips mounted at a 45 degree angle along the side walls, not just overhead. The guy said it cost about $800 to set up, but it cuts down on shadows when you're spraying door jambs and under edges. He showed me a fender he was working on, and you could see every tiny ripple and dust nib from any angle without moving a light around. It's one of those simple changes that makes a big difference in quality control. I'm thinking about trying something similar in my own booth, maybe starting with just one wall. Has anyone else changed their booth lighting and seen a real improvement in their finish work?

Ever think about how that much light shows up your own mistakes too?

My friend tried side lighting for her pottery photos and ended up redoing half her pieces.
