Finally got a perfect match on a silver metallic blend for a 2017 Ford Focus door.

I see a lot of guys just spraying the factory paint code and calling it good, but that never works right on older panels. The sun changes the color. For this Focus, the code was J7, but the door looked way more blue. I spent a full afternoon mixing in tiny amounts of a greenish fine metallic and a pinch of black to a pint of base. Tested it on a card under our shop lights and outside. The match was spot on, you couldn't see the line. It matters because a bad match makes a repair look cheap, even if the work is good. How do you all handle color matching on sun-faded cars, especially with tri-coats?

Man, tri-coats are the worst for that. Had a red Mazda last month that took forever to get right.
