Vent: my phone said I had 1,247 moon shots and they all look like a flashlight
I finally cleaned out my camera roll on Saturday night and the count came up 1,247 photos of the moon going back to 2022. I scrolled through all of them and every single one is the same white blob with no craters, no detail, nothing. I sat in my truck in the driveway in Phoenix for 20 minutes trying to figure out where I went wrong, and it turns out I never once changed the exposure, just pointed and tapped. So what is the actual trick here, do I need a tripod and manual settings or is my phone just never going to pull this off?
Been there man, I had like 300 of those blurry white blobs before I figured it out. Turning the exposure way down by tapping and dragging the little sun slider next to the focus box made a huge difference for me, and holding the phone against a fence post or my truck roof helped too since even breathing moves it enough to blur. You don't need a fancy tripod, just something solid to lean on and a night mode shot if your phone has one.
