Stacking 100 frames vs my usual 30 made a huge difference on the Orion Nebula
I was getting frustrated with the noise in my shots using just 30 light frames. Tried stacking 100 raw frames from my last session and the detail in the dust lanes popped way more. Has anyone else noticed a big jump going past 50 frames?

From what I've seen, the background noise drop is actually more noticeable than the detail gain once you pass 40-50 frames.

Stacking more frames is a lot like cooking - throwing in just a few extra ingredients of patience really brings out the flavor. Did you notice the background getting cleaner too, or was it mostly the details that stood out?

Gotta disagree a bit here - I actually found the background noise reduction way more noticeable than the extra detail in the frames. The sharpness tradeoff just wasn't worth it for me.
