Stacked 46 exposures with free software and finally got Orion the way I wanted

I've been messing with astrophotography for about 8 months on an old DSLR and a tripod, no tracker. My stacked shots always came out blurry or with weird color patches. Last week I tried DeepSkyStacker again but this time I took my time with the dark frames and actually followed a YouTube tutorial from 2019. The difference was night and day, the nebula colors finally popped and the stars stayed round. Took me 3 tries to get the settings right but it worked. Anyone else have a software trick that took way too long to figure out?
