Shoutout to the week of perfect transparency at Mauna Kea last March
I was up on Mauna Kea for a run with my 12 inch Dobsonian during the first week of March 2024. Every single night had seeing under 0.8 arcseconds and zero clouds for five nights straight. I managed to capture the North America Nebula in Ha with detail I've never seen before, even on expensive setups. The ranger said it was the best week they'd had in three years. Has anyone else gotten lucky with a stretch of weather like that?

Is it possible those seeing numbers were coming from the summit weather station? In my experience those can be way different from what you actually get at the visitor center or even lower down. The air moves different at different elevations, you know?

Weather station's just trying to keep the mystery alive.
