Question about that before and after in the Horsehead Nebula region from 2020 vs 2024
I saw a comparison of the same area around the Horsehead taken 4 years apart and the dust patterns looked totally different... is that just better processing or does that stuff actually move that fast? Anyone else notice big shifts in their own long term comparison shots?

Wait, are you telling me the dust around the Horsehead can actually change that much in just four years? I always figured those dark clouds were basically frozen in time for centuries or something, not shifting around like smoke in the wind lol. That comparison sounds wild though, I've seen old Hubble shots that look almost exactly the same decades later so this must be some really fine dust getting pushed around by radiation or stellar winds. Do you have a link to the post? I'd love to see that for myself because my brain is having a hard time wrapping around stuff in space moving that fast.

That reminds me of watching my dad’s home movies from the 80s, same vibe.

Its wild how everything seems still until you zoom in close enough, kind of like watching grass grow but in space.
