PSA: The 'perfect' astro shot is a trap, and I fell for it last month

Honestly, I spent three nights last month at a dark sky site near Flagstaff trying to get a flawless Andromeda shot. I was so focused on chasing zero noise and perfect tracking that I barely looked up. Tbh, I came home with a technically clean 300-second stack, but the memory is just me staring at a laptop screen in the cold. Ngl, it felt more like data collection than stargazing. Has anyone else gotten so lost in the process that they forgot to just enjoy the sky?

Wait, you were in Flagstaff and didn't look up? That's the real crime here. The dark sky there is unreal on its own. I'd kill for that view without any camera.

Sometimes the best shots are the ones you don't take.
