I used to think stacking photos was just for the pros
My buddy at the local astronomy club (shout out to the Tri-City Stargazers) kept telling me to try stacking my moon shots, even with my basic DSLR. I always brushed it off, thinking you needed fancy gear. Last month, I finally tried it with 50 frames of a gibbous moon using free software. The detail in the craters, especially around the terminator, was way clearer than any single shot I'd ever taken. It totally changed how I see what my camera can actually capture. For those who do this, what's a good free stacking program to start with?

Walker.cole is right, DeepSkyStacker is super user friendly once you figure out the settings.
