I used to laugh at people who spent $2k on a telescope mount

Last month I tried to get a clean shot of the Andromeda Galaxy with my DSLR on a $100 tripod. Every 30 second exposure looked like a blurry mess because of the wind and my shaky setup. My buddy let me borrow his Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer and I got 50 usable frames with zero trailing. Now I get why serious astrophotographers dump so much money into stability gear. Anyone else have a hardware upgrade that completely changed your results?

Heard a guy say a good mount is worth more than the telescope on it.

Did you ever try stacking a bunch of shots or just expected a single frame to look like the Hubble? I was the same way until I borrowed a friend's tracker and suddenly got 50 good frames in one night.
