Hot take: I keep seeing people post star trail shots with the trails broken up into dots.

Back when I started with my old Canon T3i, you had to take one long exposure for trails, not a bunch of short ones stacked. The software now makes it easy to stack, but it leaves gaps if your interval is off. I learned the hard way after a cold night in Flagstaff getting dotted lines instead of smooth curves. Anyone know a good free stacking tool that handles the timing right?

That Flagstaff cold was nature's way of saying your intervalometer game was weak.

What if the cold just made the time lapse more interesting?
