Got roasted on my Orion Nebula shot for over-processing, so I went back to the raw file
Last month I posted a stacked shot of the Orion Nebula on r/astrophotography and someone commented that it looked like a watercolor painting, not a photo. I had pushed the saturation and denoise way too hard in Photoshop trying to hide the noise from my 45 minute total exposure. So I re-edited from the original 30 second subs and only used light curves and a little contrast, nothing else. The stars actually came out rounder and the nebula core wasn't blown out at all. Anyone else have a moment like that where less editing made a way better result?
