Bought a $250 planetary cam and it finally made my moon shots not garbage

Been fighting with my DSLR on a 6 inch dob for like 2 years. All my moon pics came out soft and blurry and I just figured it was my shaky hands or the atmosphere. Finally got a dedicated astro camera last month and holy cow, the difference is night and day. The frames stack so much cleaner and I can actually push the sharpening without it turning into noise soup. Wish I had just skipped the DSLR adapter route from the start. Anyone else make the jump from DSLR to a dedicated cam and see a huge leap? What did you get and did it cost you about the same?

DSLR on a 6 inch dob is like putting racing tires on a tractor. Honestly, most of the blur you fought for two years probably wasn't the camera at all, it was the mount and seeing conditions. I've seen guys get sharp moon shots with a $200 point and shoot held up to the eyepiece, so the tool was never the whole problem. Plus, that $250 gets you a tiny sensor that makes finding the moon feel like looking through a straw, and you still need a laptop and software to even see a live view. Maybe you just got better at focusing and stacking after all that time, and the camera just got the credit.
