Update: My brief post on a forum solved a problem faster than expected
My fridge started making a odd humming sound yesterday. Most guides say you need to write long, detailed posts when seeking advice online. I just typed a few sentences on an ask anything board about the noise. Another user pointed out it was likely the condenser fan, and they were right. I fixed it in minutes instead of waiting for a repair person. This small win makes me disagree with the push for overly complex questions. Sometimes, keeping it simple gets you the answer you need.

That forum saved me a hundred bucks last year.

Had the same issue last month, cleaning the condenser fan took five minutes.

Didn't used to think simple fixes were worth the hassle? Your five minute clean-up story is exactly what changed my mind on that. Now I check the easy stuff first every time.
