Spent $300 on a 'pro' carpet cleaning service and it made things worse

I hired this company last month to steam clean my living room carpet. They used some heavy chemical that left a weird residue and now the carpet feels sticky and attracts dirt faster than before. I called them back and they said 'it needs to air out for a few more days' but it's been three weeks. Has anyone else dealt with carpet cleaners leaving residue like this?

That sticky residue sounds like they used too much chemical, did they mention what product they used?

I mean, maybe the sticky residue is actually a good sign - it could mean the chemical was bonding to the surface like it's supposed to. A lot of products leave a temporary film that dries clear and actually protects the material underneath. Idk, sometimes people rinse too soon and then complain when nothing works.
