Showerthought: I always thought backups were just for office people...
My laptop crashed hard last Tuesday around 2pm... I lost three years of family photos and my spreadsheet for a side project. I used to think automatic cloud backups were overkill for someone like me. Then a buddy in my online group told me about his external drive that saved his thesis two days before. Spent $60 on a portable SSD last weekend... now I'm paranoid about backing up every single file. Has anyone else had a close call that finally made them change their mind?

Dropped my laptop off the couch last month and it landed face down on a water bottle. Three years of D&D campaign notes gone, poof. @averywilliams honestly I get your friend Sarah, I still randomly stare at the wall thinking about my homebrew monster stat blocks. Ngl I now back up everything twice like im prepping for the apocalypse. My external drive is named "Paranoia" on purpose.
