Rant: My dryer broke mid-cycle and I found $87 in lint trap savings

My Samsung dryer just up and died last Tuesday around 3pm. Stopped mid-cycle with a loud grinding noise, wouldn't restart. I called a repair guy who quoted me $220 just to look at it. Instead I watched a YouTube video and found a jammed tennis ball had snapped the belt. Fixed it with a $12 part from Amazon and found $87 in loose change wedged under the lint trap during cleaning. Anybody else ever find cash left inside their broken appliances?

Found $40 in quarters inside my old washing machine when I pulled it apart to replace the drain pump. That machine cost me more in cash discoveries than repairs over the years.

Right? That "bonus for putting in the work yourself" part hits home. I pulled the back panel off my old Kenmore dryer a couple years back to unclog the vent and found a whole $62 in crumpled ones and loose dimes under the motor housing. Must have been from my own work pants over like five years. It's wild how much stuff slides down in there and just stays. Makes me wish I'd checked it sooner.

Yeah that's wild how often people find cash in busted machines. I pulled apart my old dryer last year to fix a squeaky drum and found $23 in crumpled bills and loose coins stuck under the lint trap housing. Must have been from my kid's pockets over the years. It's like a little bonus for putting in the work yourself instead of hiring someone. Glad you got yours running again with just a cheap part and some elbow grease
