PSA: I used to read every comment on forums before responding, now I just scroll to the bottom

For like 5 years I would read every single reply in a thread before typing anything, thinking I needed to see the full conversation. Then last week I was on a DIY subreddit about fixing a leaky faucet and realized I spent 20 minutes reading people arguing about pipe types instead of just jumping in with my question. Now I skim the first few replies to catch the vibe and then post what I need. Has anyone else found themselves wasting time on endless scrolling before actually contributing?

Learned that lesson the hard way too, now I just scroll to the last page and read the last three comments before posting.

@jessica_hall49 how do you even know the last three comments are enough to get the full picture without reading the rest? Do you just not care about missing context or are you that confident in your gut.
