My grandma's old trick helped me save my dying fern

Back when I was a kid, my grandma's house was full of plants, and I never got how she did it. I struggled for years until I mixed her advice with a weekly alert on my phone. Now my place looks green and happy, and I feel like I cracked the code. It's wild how blending past and present fixes stuff lmao.

Sounds like you overcomplicate what grandma did naturally without phones.

Actually had the same struggle @thomas.parker. Unplugging for a weekend and just doing things by hand fixed it for me.

That "naturally" part is what gets me. Grandma's world came with built in community and shared knowledge that just isn't there for most of us now. She had neighbors showing her how to can tomatoes and a lifetime of practice. We're trying to learn it alone from a blank slate, often while isolated in apartments. The phone becomes the replacement for that village. So the hard part isn't ditching the tech, it's rebuilding the human context we lost.
