A waitress in Boise said something about small talk that flipped my whole view on it
I used to think small talk was just filler and kind of a waste of time, like something you do until real talk shows up. Then last month I was eating breakfast at a diner in Boise and the waitress, Dana, said she'd learned more about her regulars from two minutes of weather talk than from years of big conversations. I sat with that for a bit and realized she's right, it's basically the on ramp, not the filler. So how do you all handle people who clearly hate small talk, do you just push through it or let it go?
