Visited the Cahokia Mounds and the 'woodhenge' story doesn't add up for me
I was at the site in Illinois last month and stood at the main post circle, but the idea it was a precise calendar always seemed off given how much the ground and posts would have shifted over centuries. The guide's explanation felt too neat, ignoring how practical needs like community gathering or simple marking might have come first. Has anyone else dug into the research and found good arguments against the calendar theory?

Yeah, the "precise calendar" part always makes me think of my friend's archaeology professor who basically said the same thing about practical needs coming first.

Totally, that's how I learned it too.

My history teacher put it best, saying people tracked seasons to eat, not to mark holidays.
