Vent: I spent 8 years digging the wrong spot at a site near Flagstaff
I kept finding scattered pottery but no real features, thinking I just had a bad context. Turns out I was looking on the slope where debris washed down, not the actual habitation area about 30 yards uphill. Did anyone else miss a big clue like that because you were too focused on the surface scatter?

Eight years? I’d be ready to dig a hole straight to China just to hide my own embarrassment. Guess those pretty pottery pieces were real good at playing hide and seek with the actual site.
