The Nazca Lines changed my mind about ancient tech

I visited the Nazca Lines in Peru last spring and thought they were cool but just old drawings, but then our guide showed us how the lines align perfectly with solstices using zero modern tools and I realized these people were way more advanced than I ever gave them credit for. Has anyone else had a site totally flip their assumptions about ancient cultures?

Read somewhere that some researchers found the lines also point to underground water sources, which is pretty wild to imagine mapping without modern tech. Did you get to see any of the geoglyphs from the towers?

Wait, is that theory actually holding up though? I saw different researchers suggesting the lines were mostly ceremonial or tied to astronomy, not practical water mapping. Honestly laurac96, I think we gotta be careful not to assume every ancient structure had a hidden utility purpose. Ngl, some of this stuff might just be art or religion without a modern explanation.

Rubyk86 dropping truth bombs while laurac96 is out here trying to find water in the sand lol. Guess I'll just stick with 'cool old drawings' and avoid the mystery entirely.
