Shoutout to the 212 Roman coins found under a villa floor in England, that number stuck with me
I was reading about a dig near a village in Worcestershire where they pulled up a jar with 212 silver coins still inside it. The whole pot had sat under a mosaic floor for close to 1,700 years and nobody touched it. What got me was the number 212, because it means some person counted those out one by one and hid them on purpose. Makes you wonder who they were saving for, or what they were scared of. Has anyone here ever seen a hoard like that in person at a museum?
