Found a flint scraper in my own backyard last Saturday

I have been gardening for 20 years and never found anything interesting. Last Saturday I was digging a new bed for some tomatoes and hit something hard. It turned out to be a small flint scraper, probably from the Woodland period based on the shape. I used to think you had to travel to famous sites or pay for guided digs to find artifacts. Now I realize you just need to look closer at your own property. Has anyone else found something cool right where they live?

Honestly, at this rate my backyard is just a museum I haven't been paying admission for.

Museums at least keep things interesting with rotating exhibits. Your backyard sounds like it just collects dust and weeds. The admission you aren't paying is probably the time and effort it takes to actually do something with the space. Maybe it's less of a museum and more of a yard sale where nobody shows up. If you really thought about it, the real cost is letting it sit there looking sad.

See it more like a quiet little sanctuary nobody's paying to enjoy.
