Warning: Don't fall for the 'miracle tree' scam like I did
Last spring I dropped $150 on a so-called 'fast growing oak tree' from a website that popped up on my feed. Planted it in my customer's yard in Portland, and by August it was clearly just a fancy weed. Has anyone else dealt with these fake nursery sites or am I the only sucker who fell for it?

oh man, that sucks. my friend jenna ordered this "rare japanese maple" from some instagram ad and it showed up as a twig in a bag. she planted it anyway, watered it for months, and it never even grew leaves. just a dead stick. she finally looked up the company and it was just some random address in florida that didn't exist.

My buddy dave fell for one of those facebook ads selling "exotic vegetable seeds" and got a bunch of empty packets with a single bean each. He grew them anyway and ended up with just regular green beans, nothing exotic at all. I told him at least he didn't get a dead stick like your friend jenna, @annas87, imagine watering a stick for six months and expecting a tree. That instagram ad probably used a photo of some famous bonsai from japan or something. I swear those scammers just grab random pictures off google and hope nobody looks too close.
