Tried a bypass lopper on an old live oak branch, split clean in one cut

Had this gnarly 3 inch branch hanging over a shed, been putting it off for weeks. Usually I'd grab the handsaw and spend 15 minutes sweating. Grabbed my buddy's Fiskars bypass lopper on a whim, lined it up right, and it went through like butter. No tearing, no mess. Lesson learned: sometimes the right tool saves way more time than muscle. Any of you guys got a go to tool that surprised you?

Is a tree branch really worth all that buildup?

Got a brand new reciprocating saw for Christmas one year, felt like a lumberjack cutting down a 4 inch limb. Forgot to check which way the blade was facing, spent ten minutes wondering why it wasn't cutting and just making a lot of noise. Felt real smart.

That happened to me with a circular saw once. I spent a good twenty minutes pushing that thing through a sheet of plywood, smoke everywhere, and it barely scratched the surface. Finally looked at the blade and realized it was on backwards. Felt like a total fool but at least nobody was around to see it. You're not alone in that one, it's an easy mistake to make when you're excited to use a new tool. Hope the saw worked out fine after you flipped the blade around.
