That fancy $200 pruning saw I bought barely lasted two jobs

I picked up one of those high end Japanese pull saws from a forestry supply catalog back in March. First big maple removal it cut great, real smooth. Second job on a big oak branch the blade snapped clean in half when I hit a little twist in the grain. Emailed the company and they said it was user error, won't refund or replace. Has anyone else had trouble with those slim kerf saws on anything knotty?

Heard those Japanese saws are fragile, they're more for precision work than heavy knots.

Read an article from a guy who restores old furniture. He swears by them for cutting dovetails. Said the thin blades are actually tougher than they look. The real trick is letting the saw do the work. Pushing too hard is what breaks them. For framing or rough cuts though, yeah use a western saw.
