Showerthought: the oak down the street went from "town landmark" to "stump" in 5 hours and I had a front row seat
There is this huge pin oak on Elm Street in my town, probably 90 feet tall, been there since before I was born. Crew came out Tuesday morning at 7am for what I figured was a trim job, turns out the whole thing was hollow from a crack that let water in about 4 feet up. By noon they had it down to a stump and by 2pm the stump grinder had erased every trace. I sat on my tailgate for most of it just watching the climber work, dude never once looked rushed. Honestly kind of wild how fast 80 plus years of growth disappears when the inside is gone. Anybody else get weirdly emotional watching a big removal, or is that just me?
