Shoutout to the old timer who told me to stop babying my maples, he was right
I had two sugar maples in my yard in Burlington that I was watering twice a day, mulching deep, the whole nine yards, and last spring both looked half dead anyway. A retired arborist down the street watched me fussing over them and said "put the hose down and let them struggle a little" and I honestly thought he was messing with me. Eighteen months later both trees are thicker and greener than anything on my block, so now I gotta ask, how many of you learned the hard way that too much care is its own kind of damage?
