Shoutout to the cheap throwaway rope I bought for crown work

I kept wrecking my good climbing line on rough bark with all the friction, so I grabbed a 30 foot piece of 3/8" utility rope from Tractor Supply for like $12. Swapped it out for the lowering line on a nasty red oak in Jersey last month, and it saved my main rope from getting chewed up. The throwaway handles the wear, I just inspect it before every use. Anyone else keep a sacrificial line in their truck for the gritty jobs?

Hold on, you said you inspect it before every use. What exactly are you looking for on a cheap rope like that after it's been dragged through bark and loaded up? I mean, if it's a throwaway, the whole point is to not care, but you still trust your life to it on the lowering side. That seems like a fine line to walk between saving your good line and hoping the cheap one doesn't snap on a heavy limb. I've seen guys treat those utility ropes like they're invincible, and that's where things get dicey.
