Serious question, is it worth pruning a young maple in fall or should I wait until late winter?
I trimmed a 6 year old sugar maple in my yard last October and it bled sap for almost three weeks, way more than I expected, but the tree still leafed out fine this spring. My neighbor swears fall pruning is fine for maples and my old boss always said wait until February when they are fully dormant, so now I am not sure who is right. Anyone got real results either way on this?
