Serious question, has anyone else tried to use a regular garden hose to water a 30-foot oak sapling?
My neighbor in Charlotte swore by it for a month, but the root ball was bone dry. Switched to a soaker hose for 2 hours a week and it's thriving now. What's your go-to method for new transplants?

Oh yeah, deep watering is key for new trees!

Just don't forget the mulch ring to keep that moisture from baking off.

My uncle in Raleigh lost two red maples that way. He was just spraying the surface with a hose for five minutes. The nursery told him to fill a five gallon bucket with a small hole in the bottom, set it next to the trunk. That slow drip gets way down deep where it needs to go. He hasn't lost a tree since.
